Do You Want to Be a Salesperson Or a Marketer?

Imagine this. It's a beautiful day. The sun is shining, the birds sing and the humidity is low, with temperatures in the mid 70s. They decide that it is a great day to get your boat down the river line. As you paddle along to enjoy the tranquility of the slow current and the sights and sounds of a quite afternoon. Then suddenly you hear the cries of someone in need ... 100 meters down the river you see someone drowning. You paddle on the river as quickly as possible to provideYour support. The drowning victim screams "HELP - HELP ME - PLEASE-I'm drowning." They row on his side and throws him a lifeline. Their victims Downing says, to your surprise: "What ... NO ... NO ... I do not want a blue life jacket, I want an orange book. Now it becomes interesting.

The seller will try to convince him that his blue lifejacket will drown just as well as an orange jacket and he has to, otherwise he will. The seller will continue on through all theBenefits of his blue jacket in an attempt to drowning, why his life vest is more convincing. The seller may even jump into the water and force it on him. The marketer takes a different approach.

The marketers will say, "okay" and let the drowning victim to drown. While the seller continues to convince his desperate drowning victim that he needs a life a blue jacket instead of an orange, put down the marketer of his trip on the river, and has alreadysaved four people who wanted the blue lifejacket.

The economy (forgive such a simplification) works the same way. Business owners often confuse the difference between marketing and sales. So ... let me tell you again. Do you want a sales person or a marketer?
